World Refugee Day

Updated: Jun 27, 2019

June 20 was world refugee day. It serves as a reminder that our country should serve as a beacon of hope by opening its doors to those fleeing persecution. However, that beacon has dimmed in recent years.

In 2017, for the first time in modern history, the United States resettled fewer refugees than the rest of the world. That number further declined last year, even though there are more displaced people worldwide than at any other point in history.

We are sharing with you The American Immigration Council’s updated fact sheet on the U.S. refugee system to make sure you have the most current information at your fingertips.
