Immigration Officials End Medical Deferral Program
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service is no longer considering most deferrals of deportation for people with serious medical conditions. Denial letters have signaled this although no formal announcement has come from USCIS. The letters say specifically that the immigration service is just no longer considering deferring action at all in these cases. This small program called medical deferred action allowed people to remain in the USA for two years if they can prove extreme medical need.
