Administration ponders drastic cut in refugee admission

Current administration is considering a drastic cut in refugee allowed into the USA

A plan is under active consideration that would basically bar refugees from most parts of the world from resettling in the USA by cutting back the decades-old refugee program. It is being discussed to zero out the program altogether or cutting the refugee admissions by half or more to only 10,000 or 15,000 a year. The current level of refugees being admitted is 30,000 for this year is the lowest number of refugees entering the USA since the program started. This is a more than 70% cut from the the levels of refugees entering the USA when President Barack Obama left office. This move is part of the Trump administration’s broader effort to reduce the number of documented and undocumented immigrants in the USA.
