DACA Updates : New Applications on pause

In follow up to our blog post from June, DACA program has hit another snag. Despite the Supreme court ruling to maintain DACA program status, current administration has decided to pause the processing of new applications. To the effect, USCIS made following decisions :

  • No processing of new requests for DACA and associated applications for Employment Authorization Documents

  • Reject new and pending requests for advanced parole absent exceptional circumstances

  • Limit the period of renewed deferred action granted pursuant to the DACA policy to one year, which means an yearly expense of $495 for every extension

Law Office of John Rottier has been communicating and advising clients with this new development on their cases. We hope that there is a change in administration or the policies in near future as this program has wide impacts is one of the important pathways for undocumented children to be able to study and work legally.
