Proposal to add a new fee for DACA recipients and charge for

USCIS is planning to publish in January 2020 a regulation that has multiple fee proposals, but its main purpose to is transfer more than $200 million to ICE for “qualifying investigative work”, issue a new fee for DACA, and charge $50 for asylum application, charge a fee for asylum-seekers work authorization documents, and cut fee waivers to only those that are required by statute or international treaties.

The administration intends to get rid of this program, however due to legal and constitutional barriers the strategy is now to discourage people from applying for immigration under these programs by making the application process expensive.
