On March 9, 2021 the Supreme Court dismissed a case concerning the Trump public charge rule. Also on March 9, 2021 the Seventh Circuit lifted its stay and the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois’s order vacating the public charge final rule went into effect. United States Citizenship and Immigration Services has stopped applying the public charge rule and has returned back to the 1999 field guidance regarding public charge.
