Current administration has significantly reduced the refugee cap to 18,000, curtailing U.S. role as a safe haven for people fleeing violence, suffering and devastation from civil war.
In a decision from POTUS, the policy states intent to cut the US refugee program by almost half saying it would accept 18,000 refugees during the next 12 months, down from the current limit of 30,000. This is a historic low compared to previous administration limit of 110,000. The US was the world’s leading destination for refugees until current POTUS administration change.
