On Friday night February 21 the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the administration’s new public charge rule. The case heard on Friday Wolf v. Cook County sought to reject the policy’s effect in Illinois. The district court filed a preliminary injunction halting the implantation of the policy in the state of Illinois. On Friday the five conservative justices ruled in favor of the stay of the injunction letting the policy go into effect in Illinois. It was the only state that an injunction against the policy was still in place. The rule went into effect Monday February 24, 2020.
