Temporary Protected Status for Cameroon

On Friday April 15, 2022 the Biden administration offered Temporary Protected Status for Cameroon. One has to have been living in the USA since April 14, 2022 to receive temporary protected status for 18 months.

It is estimated that this temporary protected status program could benefit 10,000 immigrants from Cameroon currently in the USA protecting them from deportation and allowing them to work legally due to the ongoing armed conflict in their African country between the Cameroonian government and armed separatist groups in the country’s English speaking regions in the west. The fighting has killed 4,000 civilians.

Temporary protected status does not grant permanent residency in the USA, and it only applies to people already in the USA and not to new arrivals.
