Police are undermining the U visa that is supposed to help protect immigrants and solve crimes.



I in 4 law enforcement agencies create barriers to getting U visas in the United States. Victims are often at the mercy of whatever internal rules police choose. Only four states – California, Illinois, New Jersey, and Washington State have mandates that require law enforcement agencies to sign requests for victims of violent crimes who have been helpful to authorities.
