USCIS manual changes

What's in a name ? A lot actually.

When the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services face historic and growing backlogs, the agency is using its limited resources to carry out what appears to an anti-immigrant messaging campaign. Immigration officials want to change reference of “foreign national” to “alien” in a policy manual.

Immigrant advocates have long said that the word “alien” is offensive and unnecessary. The term “alien” is found within the US Code however in recent years it has been used less due to advocacy efforts.

A name can have many meaning, some can make you feel welcomed and included while others can make you feel and outsider.

Law Office of John Rottier is always here to feel everyone welcomed and included. We believe in equality for all, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity or sexual orientation.
